As wedding season is in full swing, here are excerpts from two weddings I did last year, the first with Keith & Lucy on a very sultry day in June. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony – my first church wedding – followed by a reception in a Bloomsbury hotel. I tagged along while my good pal Julie Kim was photographing them in the private garden next door and got some lovely shots of the couple during a tranquil little interlude.
The other wedding took place in September, just as the weather was starting to turn autumnal and there was a bit of a chill in the air. The venue was a fabulous hotel in Richmond overlooking the Thames, and the couple were the the utterly adorable Andrei & Marina. It was a small, intimate wedding of just family and close friends, with lots of Russian-style fun and finesse. I particularly liked their choice of this Charlie Parker version of Summertime, which perfectly captured the slightly melancholy feeling of the fading season.
